A SPECIAL HELLLLLO & WELCOME to our newest newbies ...

Annietxlda from Del Rio,

FoggedUp from Fort Worth,

GertieGazoo from the land of Mystery,

Lundeliz from Uvalde (and Lundeliz - is Uvalde a real place?),

Mamarama, also from the land of Mystery,

Mommadog from Austin,

Pontailoftexas from Huntsville,

SuperKathryn; Teresa Jones: Mom on a Mission!; and Trish - all 3 hailing from the land of Mystery

and last but certainly not least...the woman that's going to do her best to keep me from accidentally deleting this board...

Ms. Suzanne Shaps, co-founder of Stand Up for Lyme from Austin!

I'm so glad you're all here & I'd like for you to find some topic to jump in and start posting!  Share your knowledge or feelings about a particular topic, or if you're a real 'newbie' - don't be afraid to ask lots of questions.  We've all been there!

Teresa:Mom on a Mission - I'll bet you have a few feelings you'd like to vent, and when/if you feel safe to do so here...you just go right ahead my dear!  We have a special forum just for that purpose, BUT if you feel like venting in the middle of another post - GO FOR IT!

We all have our stories - we're all LIVING our stories and some of us may be experincing climactic moments in our lives that are fabulous (in spite of the illness that threatens to suck all the joy from our lives) - and others may quite understandably think their life sucks right now.

My vision for this Board is that we can be here for each other to share in life's ups & downs.  This disease has given us a common experience that can serve to beat us down, or connect us in positive ways so we can work together to bring some goodness out of our collective suffering.

If there is a TOPIC or SUBTOPIC I have not included here - please let me know and I'll try to remember how to add it!

I'm looking forwarding to getting to know all of you!

Welcome on Board!

Donna

Since I last posted here, I'm pleased to say we gained new members.  Granted, all of you seem to be very quiet at this point - like little "wallflowers" because I think that it's more like breaking in a dance floor.  No one wants to be the first one out there 'cutting a rug' - but after several do it - then no one is afraid anymore!

So please hang in, lace up those dancing shoes & get ready to "shake your groove thang" !!

I'd like to welcome our NEWEST NEWBIES:

Bflat - from good ol' Colleyville,

Bobcat, CaryKat, & cwgiv - from the Land of Mystery (where apparently LOTS of folks live!)

EveAvent - from the West; she didn't say it yet,  but I knew it anyway and I wanted to share because she's wanting to start a support group eventually and I know some of you Land of Mystery folks probably live at her back door & don't know it yet!

Marisa - Another "mystery gal"; hey, I have a neighbor by the same name.  Are you 10 years old and getting braces soon?

TickedOffAtLyme - from Kyle

and

Tictalker from Allen

Welcome to you all - and as a right of passage - it would be so nice if all the *new* members I introduced in my last "Welcome to our newest newbies" post would NOW post something about themselves so we may get to know them better - then our true newest newbies could follow the lead - that would be fabulous!

Now that there is a *newer* group - that makes the 1st group of newbies "older newbies".  Yes, it IS confusing but I'm designing it this way on purpose so everyone can feel confused together and we can at least feel unified through our confusion! (haha)  Yes, I AM brilliant!  ((Thank you))

So - if in doubt about what you need to do next....go find a topic for which you'd like to add something, and POST!

NOTE:  If there is ever a need for a new TOPIC category - please PM (private message) me and in big bold letters say: "NEW TOPIC NEEDED", then explain enough for my brain to understand and I shall do my best to comply!

Welcome to you all!

Hi DonnaReagan,

Yes, Uvalde is a really real place!  Its located between Del Rio and S.A.

I brought a tick home with me from a trip to Oklahoma in 2004. What a

souvenir.  I found it when I got home and got a bullseye rash about a week

later.  I was treated with 10 days of 100mg Doxy and got very sick a few months

later.  I've been in treatment for over a year with not much progress.  That's my

story!  I hope I figured out how to post this right.  Thanks for starting up this new

board.

THANKS to one of our "Round 1" newbies for lacing up her dance shoes, and shaking her 'groove thang'.   Thank you Lundeliz, for breaking in our dance floor - I'm sure you will motivate others to follow your brave example!!

Also - thanks for teaching those of us who are geographiclly challenged (those of us who get lost going to potty room) as I'll bet most of us didn't know Texas really had a city named Uvalde.    We have all learned something today!

I encourage the rest of you to introduce yourself a bit, say "hello" then boogie your way over to another part of our "Newbies' Area" where you can share your Lyme story at length.

I think most newbies are surprised, and even strangely relieved they are not the only one whom has had to endure many bumps in the road to diagnosis.  I think as we share our stories - we can not only help ourselves purge some of that emotional angst - but also encourage others to share theirs, which will release emotions that might not be so helpful in our journey to greater health.

Also - in sharing our stories...you never can tell when you might discover that underneath all that "angst" (anger, resentment, desire to put your fist through a walll..) is an advocate/activisit, or even just a supportive person waiting to come out and make a huge difference in the Texas Lyme community!

See you over in the "Share you Story" sections!

Hugs to you all,   Donna

Aww - c'mon Donna... everyone knows where Uvalde, TX is!
It's the biggest town between Del Rio and San Antonio on Hwy 90.  It's like a halfway point for me when I drive to San Antonio.  I also have a HCP (not my LLMD) that I see in Uvalde at times.  Hey, they EVEN have a hospital & a Super-Wal-Mart like Del Rio, but they don't have a lake like Lake Amistad  :D.  I live right by the lake & love it!

Welcome Lundeliz!  We'll have to meet for lunch someday.  I'm actually driving to Uvalde next week :dude:.  PM me.

Hello, I've recently joined and am enjoying how well your website is put together.  I am just learning how to manuver around and I have a couple of questions for you.

1.  What are the VIEWS?  REPLIES seem to answer itself, but view can be as high as 45, but I don't see what the number actually correlates to.

2.  What would an invisible person be doing on the forum?  Or, maybe Why are they logged in as such, maybe a better way to ask?  They can't be a visitor or they'd be called a guest, right?  So, are they a logged in member who hasn't yet logged in, or are they a ghost writer/monitor, or something?  Am I missing something here?:?

(I got the Emoticons down, huh).:dude:

That's easy enough to answer.

VIEWS is how many times the thread has been viewed by people (who didn't necessarily reply).

Logged in as invisible is a sort of a stealth
mode.

It's probably me because I clicked it to see what it would do, but I didn't see where I was invisible, so I thought I did it wrong.  I didn't know it said on the bottom of the home page that I was logged in as invisible, LOL.

When I first saw that "Annie" had replied on the "Welcome" thread in the Newbies' Area...I thought..."Oh that's sweet...she's actually welcoming the newbies. That good ol' Annie...always so helpful."

BUT, I get here and discover that NO...she has taken our sweet Welcoming Area and turned it into the "Bust Donna's Chops" area.  Ah yes, so much more warm & cozy this way, ANNIE!  Would you like for me to make a special area, just for you to do that?  Or how about a special area for Annie to put her nose in the corner? Yes, I vote on that last one!  :P

BTW - I don't believe I'm the only 'Lymie" who is geographically 'confused'.  First of all, I can't remember even live human being's names - why would I bother to learn names of cities unless I'm going there, or unless someone FROM there is bugging me.

Now Lundeliz was so nice to NOT bust my chops, that I'll probably have to look up her name & her city just a few more times before getting that memorized; HOWEVER "Annie" from Del Rio - she's an experienced chop buster, so I had her name & geographical location memorized long ago...probably so I'd know NOT to visit Del Rio for a good long while!  (Note to dear Annie: Did you put "Chop buster" in your profile under 'hobby' ??)

OK, on the serious side -- THANK YOU TO RIVERGEM, (from the Gulf Coast, S. Side of Houston) for the nice thing he/she said about the bulletin board being so well put togetherNOW YOU - YOU I REALLY REALLY LIKE.  (Psst - Hey Rivergem, I'm not sure how close you are to Del Rio - but you might want to steer clear from there....  lol!  )

NOW - it's time to give a shout out & heartfelt welcome to our Newest Newbies:

LadyBug and M_Longaker, hailing from the Land of Mystery (that's not anywhere near Del Rio, is it?)

Rivergem - from the Gulf Coast,

Trolls - from Austin - and I see that Trolls is sporiting the typical Austin hairdo! So beautiful, Trolls...thank you for sharing...

and last but not least, and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone because it is only 9:30AM and my eyes are still asleep...

WDodson from Houston; hey do you own any oilwells? Or oilrigs?  Or basically just more oil than can fit at...your house?  We need to find us a rich, philanthropic Oil barron.  Do you at least know any? OK, well you are WELCOME here anyway.

We welcome you all - rich or poor; with or without a philanthropic Oil Barron; geographically gifted or NOT!

Have a good time exploring our site, and please just jump in and post whenever you are ready.  Now, NO PRESSURE, but this IS the time where I do try to *guilt* the last section of newbies to start posting.  You are now *old* newbies, which practically makes the first batch of newbies oldtimers around here.  But you can't be an oldtimer unless you start posting.

If you have any questions, I'm sure Annie will be happy to assist you....but you might want to ignore her.  OK, just kidding! I love Annie (most of the time).  Seriously, if I'm not around Annie or Suzanne should be able to help you.

FYI - my computer is near death;  I'm not really sure what happened to it -- but it must go away for awhile, which means I'll be popping in & out only when possible (mostly just to make sure Annie is being nice ) when I can remind my dear hubby (dh) to bring his laptop home!

Hope to see more of you posting on this "well put together" website.  (Thanks again, Rivergem!)

A Big Welcome & Hugs to All,

Donna

AnnMarie -

Those are GORGEOUS photos - did you take them?  I assume one photo is of your dogs - so I'm betting you did.  That would imply that you not only have website kind of skills but also photo/artistic abilities??/!!

That's just more WOW!  I never would have d-r-e-a-m-e-d of such!!

I notice you've stated your new life purpose is to: "Bust Donna's Chop's".  Gosh AM, I'm 'touched' by that!  I think you really have to be fond of someone a great deal to make something like that your life purpose.  I'm feeling a bit teary eyed! THANK YOU!

You are such a 'sweet thang'.

I shall sleep better tonight knowing someone will wake up tomorrow with the primary purpose of giving me a "hard time".

I wish that kind of soul-touching experience for all of you....

Hugs,

Donna

PS - Del Rio IS beautiful.  I stand corrected.  But it's mostly hot & miserable, right?

Thank you, Donna, for the warm welcome!

Del Rio IS beautifuull!  But, then I think anything above the flatlands is beautiful. :D

Hello lundeliz,

You are the second person I've talked to in the last month (e-mail) who was infected by a tick in Oklahoma...I am from there and I sure hate to associate someplace I really loved with something as bad as Lyme Disease.  If I had a bubble of safe haven, this knowledge has popped it.  Even though I never saw a tick, I got the bull's eye rash, from property near Columbus TX. :(  Hope you are doing better, now that you have a diagnose.

Thanks Rivergem,

I'm originally from Oklahoma, too.  I've gotten lots of ticks there in my life, but finally one too many I guess..

I was just wondering if the person you know with lyme from Okla.

has any co-infections?   I'm having big time breathing problems right now and I'm

wondering if it's babs?

I still love Oklahoma anyway!

Hi Annie!  I live in Lubbock/Buttock and I couldn't find a pretty photo of Lubbock if my life depended on it.  Uvalde looks gorgeous.  Can I come live with you?  I only have 7 dogs and 1 cat and a really tall husband.  You'd never even know we were there, I promise.  This place is like a waste land.  The real hard liners think it's fabulous.  We fought hard for the G.W. Bush library here at Tech, but sadly, lost the bid.  I'm so embarrassed I could cry.  I know we shouldn't post political stuff, but it just emphasises how deplorable my "town" is.  ha:P

Hey Lundeliz,

I love Oklahoma!  I wish I could tell you more about the other person who was infected in OK, but I have not been able to get back in touch with them.  I can only go through a third party to talk to this person.:?

If I can get this "first party" (husband) to contact the "second party" (very delicate relationship), I can then ask to speak once again, to the "third party" in question.  It is all a matter of motivating the party of one, in closest proximaty to yours truly, to activate.  I predict 3 days, but then will be at the mercy of recipricating party to comunicate to the "third party".

I'm sorry to make light of this moment.  I wish I could answer you, but I am no help.  I do hope you get some relief and find someone with some answers.

Rivergem
