Stand Up For Lyme (http://www.standupforlyme.org) maintains a list of doctors known to be treating Lyme disease in Texas, as well as other helpful contacts and web sites.

To request this information, send an email to texaslyme@gmail.com with "DOCTOR REFERRALS" in the subject.

Please note - the TxLDA, because we are a non-profit CORPORATION, does not make it a practice to provide referrals to doctors.

In fact, I ask that no names be supplied on this board - but you may submit your request on this board, and if someone feels they want to recommend a doc, then please email or PM the contact info.

Sometimes the BEST place to find a doc is through local support groups as they are usually "in the know" about which doctors patients are having the most  success.

For any newbies around here -- you need to know that finding a Texas Lyme-Literate doc (esp. anywhere NEAR your area) and/or (esp. anyone that takes insurance or medicare) is about as likely as winning the Texas Lotto -- so it's best if you just lower your expectations and realize you are going to have to travel OUT OF STATE most likely to find someone to treat you.  That is, UNTIL we can convince the Texas "powers that be" that Lyme is real & it needs to be treated.

I honestly hope this situation makes some of you spitting mad so that you can use your righteous anger as "fuel" to volunteer within local support groups and within the TxLDA to help effect much needed change.

If you'd ever feel like you'd like to volunteer for the TxLDA for a particular project - or for just anything at all -- PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PM or email me!

Thanks...and looking forward to meeting some energetic, willing volunteers - so this travesty against Texas patients can be stopped!

Don't check the "spell checker" or your message disappears.  I did that.

I live in Lubbock and have a really smart LLDO here.  What he lacks in personality, he makes up for in knowlege and it's a fair trade off.  I am finding it astonishing that there are 150 people being treated by this doctor and I had not found him sooner.  I have been searching CFS on a regular basis and still do not find ever a connection between CFS and Lyme.  When I saw a small entry on an obscure blog that stated that ANYONE with a diagnosis of CFS, FBM, Lupus, RA, MS and on and on owes it to themselves to be properly tested for Lyme through Igenex Lab, I didnt let another day pass without calling for their free test kit.

4 weeks later I at LONG, LONG last knew the culprit of all my misery.  That was in Dec. 2006.  Since then, I've been given renewed life by all the others battling this devil.

I used the spell checker after writing an e-mail to a particular member and my message disappeared, too.  But, it seems to be working ok here (except that when trying to replace my misspelled word with the correct spelling of that word, I couldn't see all of the choices...But, I am enjoying your new website.
